About SOCS......
Save Our Community Schools (SOCS) was formed in November 2006, when it emerged that Sheffield City Council wanted to close Wisewood Secondary School and merge it with Myers Grove School as part of the BSF programme.
Save Our Community Schools are campaigning to save Wisewood School from closure. We want a refurbishment for Wisewood School and a rebuild for Myers Grove School and the 14-19 centre at Myers Grove School.
Our members consist mainly of parents of children who are currently pupils at Wisewood Secondary School and also parents of those who will in the future be pupils at Wisewood Secondary School. There are also members of the Wisewood, Malin Bridge and Marlcliffe community who are also involved with SOCS.
You may remember, at the beginning of January 2007, there was a big protest march in Sheffield City Centre made up of SOCS members, members of the public, parents at local feeder schools. SOCS handed in a petition of well over 2,000 signatures!! (See the picture below).

The Fight Continues
SOCS are still fighting to save Wisewood School as the merger is still to go ahead.
We are currently in the process of legal action against Sheffield City Council.
Further updates on this action will be put in the campaign section of this website. |
